Woodhouse Grove Rugby Club is
delighted to extend its website to assist school sport and during
the summer term the site will be active in providing information
regarding fixtures team selections and results to players, parents,
the wider school community and interested parties.
A great deal of cricket has
already been played so far this term. Two full blocks of fixtures
have already been completed along with several midweek games and cup
fixtures. Highlights you will be able to read about on the site
include a report and photos of the 1st XI’s most successful tour to
Antigua and St Lucia, results so far this season, including a
memorable match winning century by 1st XI Captain Alex
Hewitt against a powerful Lancaster RGS team and details of Oliver
Hardaker’s record breaking innings of 329 for his club side
Horsforth which has received prominent national media coverage. The
U15 Team continue to progress in the national stages of the Lords
Taverners competition. As last season’s Yorkshire champions we are
proud to see their progress representing the school and county on
the national stage.
Details of social functions and
further opportunities to be involved with the club will be available
shortly, including details of unique events which form part of
England’s Ryan Sidebottom Benefit Year. This includes in August a
match at Woodhouse Grove between an Arnie Sidebottom Celebrity and
International XI and David English’s Bunbery XI. Also in October
England legend Geoffrey Boycott, Kevin
Connolly
(from the hit
radio and TV show Dead Ringers)and MC Harry Gration of the BBC top the bill at a Sports
Dinner hosted on Ryan’s Behalf at the school. You will need to see
the details elsewhere on the site to book tickets for these events,
which are selling fast.
Enjoy the site, I do hope you
find it useful. The rugby club Parents who run this site would be
appreciative of your feed back as to how you think it could be
enhanced. We aim to oblige as much as possible and are always
appreciative of any offers of sponsorship or advertising to help
develop sport at the Grove.
